How to Navigate Modern-Age Dating: without Getting Your Heart Broken or Wasting Your Time
Are you tired of winding up in negative relationships? Are you looking for a long-lasting, mutually satisfying partnership? Would you like to have and maintain a secure love attachment characterized by deep trust and a robust, enduring emotional connection between you and your partner?
In this book, author Emily Abeledo, LCSW, gives insight into dating with intention.
Through scientific information, accepted psychological theories and her 22 years experience in the mental health field, she has found that emotional intelligence and attunement are key for long lasting relationships. This book explores how we must know the type of person we are looking for, what values we want to share together, and what personality qualities are ideal for a secure attachment. In doing so, we must also free ourselves from the myth that there is one Prince Charming out there who can magically fulfill all out needs and dreams.
Ms Abeledo also helps her readers understand how the kinds of bonds formed during childhood set the stage for our basic sense of safety and security in later relationships and why it is necessary to get treatment for and heal from those experiences that later can negatively affect out dating selecting and results. Rather than a relationship filled with discord, belligerence, contempt, alienation of affection, or hostile interactions, having a firm partnership where each person offers emotional support and encouragement helps us achieve personal life goals more confidently, makes the world less intimidating, and makes life less daunting.
Emily Abeledo is a graduate of the University of Southern California Masters of Social Work program. She has worked in the Mental health field for 22 years including Community Mental Health programs, Domestic Violence Programs and Psychiatric Rehabilitation programs. She has been a licensed Therapist in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. She has a Trauma Informed treatment certificate from Bryn Mawr, and a Level I and II Gottman Couples Therapist Certification, as well as extensive Family Therapy training from The Philadelphia Child and Family Guidance Center.
